The Houston Texans have signed former Cincinnati Bengals wide receiver Mitchell Tinsley to their practice squad, according to a report by Ari Meirov from The 33rd Team. Tinsley, who stands 6 feet 1 inch tall, is 26 years old and had a productive season last year with 8 receptions for 116 yards and 2 touchdowns.
He garnered interest from multiple teams after the Bengals decided to release him due to their deep wide receiver lineup.
In response to Tinsley's signing, Paul Dehner Jr. from The Athletic noted that Tinsley recognized a better opportunity for playing time in Houston, which has been actively seeking additional wide receiver depth following the injury to Jayden Higgins, who suffered a torn ACL.
The Texans had also recently traded for Kayshon Boutte from the New England Patriots as part of their efforts to strengthen their receiving corps.
Tinsley, an undrafted free agent, has made four starts in 19 regular-season games. He is characterized as a possession receiver, known for his solid ball skills despite lacking elite speed and quickness to separate from defenders.
