The Houston Texans have added defensive tackle Junior Tafuna to their practice squad, as announced by the team on social media on September 2. This move marks a return for Tafuna, who previously played for the Texans during his rookie season in 2025.

Tafuna, an undrafted free agent, was waived by the Texans on August 5 and subsequently claimed by the New York Jets the following day. He was among several players released by the Jets as they made cuts to finalize their roster.

During his college career at Utah, Tafuna recorded 108 combined tackles, 7.5 sacks, 15 tackles for loss, and made notable defensive plays including three fumble recoveries and two interceptions. Despite concerns regarding his traits and production as an interior defender, he has shown athletic potential that could be developed further.

The Texans' decision to bring Tafuna back is seen as a way to enhance their defensive depth as they aim for a strong season. Further updates on Tafuna's role with the team are expected as the season progresses.
