Dozie Ezukanma, a wide receiver at TCU, was hospitalized for three days due to a brain bleed, concussion, and other injuries following an alleged assault by teammate Jacob Fields at the Walsh Athletic Complex on August 13. The incident reportedly stemmed from Fields' dissatisfaction with Ezukanma's practice performance.

Witnesses indicated that Fields punched Ezukanma in the head while he was seated and looking at his phone, subsequently kicking him in the back of the head, which caused Ezukanma to lose consciousness. After experiencing severe headaches and ringing in his ears, Ezukanma was taken to the hospital, where initial scans revealed a brain bleed, necessitating his transfer to the ICU.

During his hospitalization, multiple CT scans showed that the hematoma had increased in size. He was discharged on August 16 with additional injuries, including a strained AC joint in his shoulder.

Jacob Fields was dismissed from the TCU football team on August 18. He turned himself in to law enforcement and faces charges of aggravated assault causing serious bodily injury. He was released from Tarrant County Jail after posting a $50,000 bond.

Following the incident, Fields communicated his remorse in a text to TCU police, acknowledging that he made an emotional decision and offered to pay for Ezukanma's hospital expenses. TCU head coach Sonny Dykes remarked that the event was not typical behavior for either Fields or the team.

Ezukanma, a graduate of Keller Timber Creek High School in Fort Worth, was anticipated to be a starting wide receiver for the upcoming season, with TCU's next game against Grambling scheduled for September 12.
