Dallas, Texas — Texas announced July 10 that Marcus Spears Jr. has signed to join its men’s basketball program for the 2026-27 season after reclassifying from the 2027 class.
The Longhorns described Spears as the nation’s top-ranked player in his original class. ESPN lists him fourth in the updated 2026 rankings.
At Dynamic Prep during his junior season, the 6-foot-10 forward averaged 15.1 points, 7.6 rebounds and 2.4 blocks, according to Texas.
Spears is from Frisco and will play in Austin next season. Texas is a state-flagship program followed across North Texas, including Dallas.
