Baylor University women's tennis head coach Joey Scrivano has announced the signing of Gao Duanrui for the 2026-27 season.
Scrivano expressed enthusiasm about Duanrui joining the team, highlighting her strong work ethic, mental toughness, and passion for improvement. He noted that she is a talented athlete with significant potential for growth in her tennis career.
Duanrui, who hails from Tianjin, China, has achieved career-high rankings of No. 1,186 in singles and No. 1,435 in doubles according to the Women's Tennis Association (WTA). Throughout her professional career, she has secured 52 singles victories, including wins in the main draws at the 2026 M15 Tianjin and the 2025 W15 Luan and W15 Maanshan tournaments.
In doubles competition, she has reached the quarterfinals five times, with notable performances at the 2026 W15 Tianjin and three separate 2025 W15 Luan events, as well as the 2025 W15 Maanshan.
The Baylor women's tennis team concluded the 2025 season ranked No. 34 in the ITA Year-End team rankings. The season included the program's 27th appearance in the NCAA Tournament, a 19th trip to the second round, and four All-Big 12 selections, along with three ranked victories and two players qualifying for the NCAA Singles and Doubles Championships in the fall.
