The first week of the Texas high school football season features several high-profile matchups in and around Dallas, with one game located outside the immediate region. The schedule highlights returning rivalries and new class divisions as teams begin their campaigns.
Duncanville and Allen face off at 7 p.m. Friday at Eagle Stadium. Both programs were state semifinalists last year, making this the area's most prominent early-season contest.
Duncanville holds a 2-0 record against Allen, including wins in 2018 and 2025. Allen will rely on sophomore quarterback Ty Snell for his first start against a Duncanville defense featuring Gatlon Cryer and Janero Welch. Duncanville’s offense includes running backs Brayden Arnold, Robert Singleton, and Trenton Yancey, who will test an Allen defensive unit that lost significant personnel from last season.
South Oak Cliff meets Richmond Randle at 7 p.m. Friday at Prairie View A&M. This game serves as a rubber match after the two teams previously met in a state championship.
Richmond Randle has moved up to Class 5A Division I. The matchup features running back Landen Williams-Callis, who rushed for over 3,500 yards in each of his last two seasons, against the South Oak Cliff defensive front. South Oak Cliff returns quarterback Jayden Williams and offensive lineman Brian Swanson as key players for head coach Jason Todd.
DeSoto travels to Ft. Lauderdale, Fla., to play St. Thomas Aquinas at 4 p.m. Saturday at St. Thomas Aquinas Stadium.
