The Houston Cougars have secured the commitment of Myles Rowser, a safety who earned All-Big 12 honors, from the transfer portal. This move follows new NCAA eligibility rules that allow players from the class of 2022, who did not redshirt or sign a professional NFL contract, to gain an additional season of eligibility.
Rowser, who did not redshirt during his freshman year, played nine games for the Campbell Camels before transferring. He has also played for New Mexico State and Arizona State, accumulating a total of 295 tackles, 8.5 tackles for loss, one sack, two interceptions, and 16 passes defended throughout his collegiate career.
In the 2025 season, Rowser was active in all games for Arizona State, achieving a career-high of 84 tackles, four tackles for loss, and three passes defended. His performance earned him a spot on the All-Big 12 Third Team.
The Cougars are well-equipped at the safety position, featuring veterans Kentrell Webb and Jordan Allen, who recorded 71 and 48 tackles, respectively, last season. Additionally, they have added Tulane safety Javion White, who contributed 50 tackles last year. With Rowser's arrival, there is potential for adjustments in the defensive lineup, possibly moving one of the current safeties to a nickel corner position.
