The Houston Texans are looking for additional pass-rushing support behind Will Anderson Jr. and Danielle Hunter, with interest in defensive end Devean Deal. The Texans are currently dealing with several injuries, particularly affecting their edge rushers.
On August 22, KPRC 2’s Aaron Wilson reported that the Texans worked out Devean Deal, an undrafted free agent from TCU who previously spent time with the Seattle Seahawks. During his college career, Deal accumulated 176 total tackles and 13.0 sacks over two years at TCU and three seasons at Tulane.
While the Texans recently signed linebacker Caleb Johnson, they are exploring other options to enhance their roster. Deal's potential addition raises questions regarding the health and performance of other players on the team, particularly with injuries affecting Jadeveon Clowney and Logan Hall, whose absences were not directly linked to health issues.
Deal was waived by the Seahawks to make room for new receivers, indicating that the team saw potential in him but needed to adjust their roster. The Texans are in a similar situation, having signed veteran receivers Sterling Shepard and Zay Jones while placing linebacker K.C. Ossai on injured reserve.
