Jake Burger led off the fifth inning at Rate Field with a drive ESPN's scoring play measured at 412 feet to center.

The ball was his 22nd home run of the season, off Tyler Schweitzer, and it made the score 6-2. An inning later he doubled to center off Huascar Brazoban. Evan Carter scored from first for an 8-2 lead, and Chicago center fielder Tristan Peters threw Burger out trying for third.

FOX Sports opened its recap of Texas' 11-2 win over the White Sox on Burger going 2-for-3 with two RBI. CBS Sports' box lists three at-bats, two hits, two walks, one strikeout, a homer, and a double. Those two RBI moved him to 75 for the year, and the double was his 19th.

CBS Sports lists him at first base and, after the game, .236/.301/.424. The sixth-inning double was a two-out RBI, the same box shows.

Burger's first look at Jose Urquidy had been a walk in the first, after Carter's two-out double had already put Texas up 2-0, CBS Sports' play-by-play shows. He struck out swinging in the third, when Corey Seager's two-out double scored Cody Freeman and Elias Diaz for a 5-2 lead. After Burger's homer in the fifth, Justin Foscue doubled and Seager doubled him in for 7-2.

Burger's sixth-inning extra-base hit made it 8-2. Texas did not trail again.

Eighth-inning walk, then first place

In the eighth, Ezequiel Duran doubled and moved to third on a wild pitch. Burger walked as Duran scored to make it 9-2, ESPN's box shows. Wyatt Langford hit a two-run homer in the ninth, his 15th, for the final margin.

The Associated Press credited Seager with three hits and three RBI and noted Texas finished with 14 hits to Chicago's five. Kumar Rocker worked 5.2 innings for the win. Urquidy (2-2) lasted three innings and allowed five runs on six hits with four walks, the AP wrote.

Texas scored in seven of nine innings and is 66-66. ESPN lists the club 30-37 on the road. The AP reported that the Rangers moved a half-game in front of Houston, which did not play, and that it was the first time since July 30 they have had the AL West to themselves.

Chicago, listed in that recap as the AL Central leaders, fell to 68-63.

Foscue had entered after Joc Pederson was ejected. Pederson opened the game with a walk and scored the first run on Duran's groundout, the AP wrote, then was ejected by plate umpire Chris Guccione for comments from the dugout. Pederson had struck out looking to start the second and, the AP said, was too late trying to challenge the call.

The AP reported that Jacob deGrom (9-8, 3.77 ERA) takes the ball Tuesday opposite White Sox left-hander Anthony Kay (9-6, 3.96).
