The Dallas Cowboys are gearing up for Week 1 of the 2026 NFL season with a largely healthy roster, having avoided major injuries during the offseason. However, there are two players currently dealing with injuries, along with two others on injured reserve who could return later in the season.
Defensive lineman Jonathan Bullard has been sidelined for a significant portion of the offseason due to an abdominal and groin injury. As of September 1, he was seen participating in rehab activities, which suggests he may have a chance to play in the season opener, although he might require additional time to fully recover and ramp up his readiness.
Ajani Cornelius, another player to monitor, also missed practice as of September 2 but was spotted doing rehab work on September 1. He performed well during training camp and secured a reserve spot on the roster, showcasing his versatility as a guard and tackle. His availability for the season opener will depend on his progress in the coming days.
On injured reserve, linebacker Marist Liufau and cornerback Devin Moore have been designated to return after a mandatory four-week absence. Liufau suffered a fractured forearm during the preseason finale, which required surgery. Head coach Brian Schottenheimer noted his competitiveness and expressed optimism about his return.
Moore has been dealing with a hip injury and had previously missed time during training camp due to a groin issue. His injury history raises concerns about his potential contributions this season, as he had already faced challenges during his college career.
