A Fort Worth resident has been sentenced to 40 years in federal prison for drug trafficking offenses involving massive quantities of methamphetamine. Evaristo Hidrogo, 31, received the sentence on June 26 from Chief U.S. District Judge Reed O’Connor in the Northern District of Texas. Fort Worth is located approximately 31 miles west of Dallas.
The sentencing follows Hidrogo’s arrest on November 18, 2025, which occurred after he engaged in a high-speed pursuit with law enforcement and subsequently collided with another vehicle. Upon his initial apprehension, officers discovered 56 grams of methamphetamine on his person. A search of his vehicle revealed an additional 823 grams of meth, 301 grams of heroin, 55 grams of cocaine, and two firearms.
Subsequent investigations led authorities to two specific locations tied to Hidrogo. At a Fort Worth storage facility, officers seized 244 kilograms of methamphetamine with a reported purity of 100 percent, along with additional weapons. At a separate residence, investigators found 10 kilograms of meth and two kilograms of heroin.
Prosecutors charged Hidrogo with possession with intent to distribute over 244 kilograms of methamphetamine, possession of three firearms, and other controlled substances. Assistant U.S. Attorney Joshua Garland prosecuted the case on behalf of the government.
Officials involved in the case emphasized the severity of the penalties for drug distribution in the region. DEA Dallas Special Agent in Charge Joseph B. Tucker stated that the 480-month sentence sends a clear message to those distributing methamphetamine in North Texas, asserting that offenders will be held accountable. He noted that the DEA and its partners remain dedicated to dismantling criminal organizations operating in the DFW Metroplex.
