Fort Worth police have taken a man into custody on suspicion of causing a fatal crash while driving under the influence. The arrest occurred on Thursday, according to online jail records maintained by the county.

Mack Simpson, 47, has been charged with intoxicated manslaughter with a vehicle. Law enforcement officials allege that Simpson was operating a motor vehicle while impaired when the incident took place.

The crash resulted in the death of Jose Alfredo Aguilar Candela, 37. Medical examiner records indicate that Candela died in the side yard of a home located near the intersection of Travis and West Baltimore avenues. The incident happened on the evening of July 1.

Candela is survived by his wife and four children. A GoFundMe page established to help cover funeral costs described him as a loving husband, a devoted father, and a hardworking individual who served as the primary financial support for his family.

Fort Worth is situated approximately 31 miles west of Dallas.

Additional information regarding the circumstances of Simpson’s arrest was not available as of Saturday. Details about the specific timeline of events leading up to the crash or the current status of Simpson’s legal proceedings remain unclear.
