Nimmo’s Walk-Off Lifts Rangers Past Astros 6-5

Brandon Nimmo’s ninth-inning single provided the decisive run as the Texas Rangers defeated the Houston Astros 6-5 at Globe Life Field on Sunday.

Walk-Off Winner

Brandon Nimmo delivered the game-winning hit in the ninth inning, driving in Andrew Langford to secure a 6-5 victory for the Texas Rangers over the Houston Astros. The win improved the Rangers’ record to 49-47, while the Astros fell to 47-51.

Nimmo’s single to center field broke a 5-5 tie. He reached base after a pitch, then advanced to second on a fielding error by the pitcher, Josh Hader. With Langford at the plate, Nimmo’s hit allowed Langford to score from second base. Nimmo was left standing on third base as the game ended.

Scoring Sequence

The Astros took an early lead in the second inning. Josh Lowe singled to right, allowing Corey Julks to score. Later in the same frame, Evan Carter doubled to right, scoring two more runs to make it 3-1 for Houston.

The Rangers answered in the fourth inning when Corey Julks homered to left center, cutting the deficit to 3-2. Houston extended its lead to 4-2 in the fifth inning when Josh Lowe tripled to right, scoring Evan Carter.

In the seventh inning, the Rangers chipped away. Andrew Heaney hit a sacrifice fly to left, bringing Josh Jung home to make it 4-3. Two batters later, Evan Carter singled to center, scoring two runs to tie the game at 4-4.

The eighth inning saw both teams trade home runs. Corey Julks homered to left for the Rangers, giving them a 5-4 lead. Houston responded immediately when Josh Lowe homered to left, tying the score at 5-5.

Pitching Performance

Josh Hader took the loss after pitching a scoreless inning in the ninth. He allowed three hits and one earned run before being pulled. Bryan Abreu pitched one inning, allowing one hit and one earned run. Steven Okert worked one scoreless inning. Bryan King pitched two innings, allowing one hit and one earned run. Enyel De Los Santos pitched one scoreless inning.

MacKenzie Gore started for the Rangers, pitching four innings and allowing one earned run on two hits while striking out four. Tyler Alexander pitched one and one-third innings, allowing no runs on one hit. Cole Winn pitched two-thirds of an inning, allowing one hit and one walk. Robby Ahlstrom pitched one-third of an inning, allowing two runs on two hits. Peyton Gray pitched two-thirds of an inning, allowing one run on one hit. Ben Peoples pitched one inning, allowing one run on one hit. Jacob Latz earned the win by pitching one scoreless inning.

The game was played at Globe Life Field in Arlington, Texas, with an attendance of 33,804.
