Early Astros Lead
Houston established an early advantage in the first inning. Paredes hit a sacrifice fly to center field to score Peña, followed by Altuve hitting a home run to left center. That drive scored Alvarez and gave Houston a 3-0 lead. The Astros extended their advantage in the second inning when Smith scored on an Altuve walk. By the start of the fourth inning, Paredes had added another home run to left field, scoring Peña and making it 6-0. The Athletics trailed by four runs entering the fifth.
The Rally
The tide turned in the fifth inning. Serven hit a home run to left center, a 402-foot shot that scored Walton and Hernaiz to cut the deficit to one run. Butler followed with a double to left field, bringing in Bolte. White then singled to right field, allowing Gelof and Butler to score, tying the game at 6-6. The Athletics took the lead in the seventh inning when Muncy hit a solo home run to center field, a 409-foot blast that proved to be the game-winning run.
Pitching Performance
Jack Perkins recorded the win for Oakland, pitching five innings while allowing three hits and one earned run. He issued five walks and struck out six batters. Scott Blewett and Luis Medina earned saves for the Athletics, with Harris recording the final save. For Houston, Cristian Javier started, pitching four innings with four hits, three earned runs, two walks, and eight strikeouts.
