Dallas, Texas — The Texas Longhorns received a major Fourth of July boost when Gilmer offensive tackle Ismael Camara announced his commitment to the program. The consensus five-star prospect is the No. 20 overall recruit and the No. 3 offensive tackle in the 247Sports Composite rankings for the 2027 class.

Camara, who stands 6-foot-6 and weighs 340 pounds, chose Texas over a list of finalists that included Alabama, Auburn, Kentucky, LSU, Ohio State, Oregon, SMU, Tennessee, and Texas A&M. The native of France moved to East Texas and played his first varsity season last fall, drawing nearly forty scholarship offers.

The pledge gives Texas its 22nd commitment in the 2027 cycle and its fifth offensive lineman, adding to a class that ranks No. 4 nationally under position coach Kyle Flood. Camara projects as the final offensive line take for the Longhorns in this recruiting cycle.

Despite limited varsity experience, Camara earned his five-star rating through prototypical size, athleticism, and flexibility as a blocker. He played left tackle, defensive line, and special teams for Gilmer in 2025 and is expected to take on an expanded role as a senior this fall.

The commitment continues a strong recruiting stretch for Texas, which had recently seen four-star cornerback Brandon Sherrard commit on July 1 and has the 2027 class ranked among the top five nationally.
