Scattered power outages have affected multiple Dallas neighborhoods as extreme heat continues to strain local electrical infrastructure. The intense temperatures are placing additional pressure on the region's power systems, leading to brief interruptions for some residents.
In the Kessler Park area, more than a dozen homeowners reported experiencing two separate power losses on Monday. One interruption lasted approximately one hour, while a second outage followed shortly after and persisted for about 30 minutes. Will Mallery, who was present during one of the disruptions, described the event as a sudden surge that turned off televisions and other appliances before power returned quickly.
The Kessler Park Day School confirmed it lost electricity and notified parents to pick up their children early as a precaution. An apartment complex in the Design District also experienced power loss during the same period.
ERCOT stated that the regional grid is operating with sufficient reserves to meet demand. A spokesperson clarified that any outages occurring are local in nature and do not reflect broader reliability issues for the Texas power network.
Oncor explained that sustained high temperatures can cause electrical equipment to experience added stress, which may result in power failures. The utility company noted that workers are addressing these issues as they arise.
