Canzone's Two-Hit Performance Powers Mariners Past Rangers 6-4

Canzone Drives in Runs

Dominic Canzone provided the offensive spark Seattle needed, finishing with two hits including a decisive three-run home run. His performance helped the Mariners overcome a deficit to secure a 6-4 win against the Texas Rangers on Sunday. Canzone also added a double later in the game that plated a run, contributing significantly to the final tally.

Early Scoring Exchange

The Rangers struck first in the top of the first inning. Evan Carter singled to right, allowing Nathaniel Lowe to score. The Mariners answered in the bottom of the first when Adolis García hit a sacrifice fly to center, scoring Corey Seager to tie the game at 1-1.

The Mariners took the lead in the third inning when Marcus Semien singled to left, bringing in Evan Carter. Seattle extended their advantage in the fourth inning with two runs. Corey Seager singled to right, scoring Nathaniel Lowe, and later reached on an infield single to second, allowing Seager to score from first base.

Late Inning Rally

The Rangers threatened in the seventh inning but could not capitalize. The Mariners broke the game open in the bottom of the seventh. Canzone homered to right field, a 400-foot shot that drove in three runs and put Seattle ahead 5-3.

One batter later, Luke Voit added another home run to right-center field, a 400-foot blast that extended the lead to 6-3. The Rangers managed to score one run in the eighth inning when García homered to left field, a 420-foot shot that made the score 6-4.

Canzone’s second hit of the game came in the ninth inning, a double to right field that scored Seager, though the Rangers had already been eliminated from scoring further.

Pitching Decisions

Seattle’s bullpen secured the win after Logan Gilbert pitched 5.2 innings, allowing five hits and three earned runs with four strikeouts. Gabe Speier earned the win with 1.1 scoreless innings of relief, striking out three batters. Eduard Bazardo recorded the save with one inning pitched, allowing one hit and one earned run.

Andres Munoz closed the game with a perfect ninth inning, striking out three batters.

For the Rangers, Jacob deGrom started the game, pitching 5.0 innings and allowing one earned run on seven hits. He was relieved by Robby Ahlstrom, who pitched one scoreless inning. Tyler Alexander and Cole Winn struggled in relief, combining to give up four earned runs.

Ben Peoples and Peyton Gray pitched the final innings, allowing one hit and one run respectively. The Rangers fell to 53-52, while the Mariners improved to 52-54.
