Wyatt Langford provided the decisive blow in the ninth inning, singling to left field to drive in Jesus Suarez and secure a 7-6 victory for the Texas Rangers over the Los Angeles Angels on Friday. The win marked Langford’s return to the active roster, offering a dramatic conclusion to a contest where the Rangers erased a significant late deficit.
The game began with the Angels seizing an early advantage. In the first inning, Starling Nimmo launched a 394-foot home run to left-center, followed by a single from Nathaniel Lowe that scored Marcus Semien, putting Los Angeles ahead 2-0. The Angels extended their lead in the third inning when Mike Trout scored on a groundout and Nimmo added a two-run homer to center, making it 4-1. Kirby Yates entered in the fourth and allowed a one-out home run to Josh Jung, pushing the Angels’ lead to 5-1.
The Comeback Begins
The Rangers’ offense began to stir in the sixth inning. With the Angels’ lead at six runs after a ground-rule double by Adolis Garcia scored a runner, Texas chipped away in the seventh. A series of hits in the bottom of the seventh inning ignited a rally. Josh Jung singled to center, scoring two runs to make it 5-6. Salvador Perez then singled to center, scoring Trout and making it 6-6. Adolis Garcia followed with a single to left, scoring Perez and giving the Rangers a 7-6 lead.
