Dallas, Texas — FC Dallas has obtained goalkeeper Daniel from the San Jose Earthquakes, adding a veteran option as the club prepares for the second half of its Major League Soccer season.

San Jose will receive as much as $1 million in General Allocation Money. The trade includes $700,000 that is guaranteed and another $300,000 that depends on conditions being met, according to MLS and Field Level Media.

Daniel became San Jose’s regular starter in 2023 and recorded 15 clean sheets across 86 appearances in all competitions, MLS reported. The 32-year-old does not take an international roster spot because he has a U.S. green card.

Dallas chief soccer officer André Zanotta said the club expects Daniel’s league experience to increase competition in the goalkeeper group. Homegrown keeper Michael Collodi had started 13 matches this season and posted three shutouts.

FC Dallas plays at Toyota Stadium in Frisco, making the roster move relevant across the Dallas-area fan market. San Jose’s acquisition of goalkeeper Angus Gunn preceded Daniel’s departure.
