The University of Houston's offensive guard Shadre Hurst has been selected for the Preseason AP All-American First-Team. This recognition was announced on Tuesday, highlighting Hurst's impressive performance and potential for the upcoming college football season.
Earlier this month, Hurst was also included in the Lombardi Trophy and Outland Trophy Preseason Watch Lists. He reunites with head coach Willie Fritz and offensive line coach Eman Naghavi, both of whom he previously worked with at Tulane, where he earned All-American and Freshman All-American accolades, as well as All-AAC honors.
In terms of performance metrics, Hurst has achieved an 80.0 pass block grade since 2023, ranking him second among active FBS offensive linemen. Over more than 1,200 passing snaps, he has allowed only one sack. In 2025, he was recognized as the top graded offensive lineman in the American Athletic Conference and the sixth highest graded guard nationally by Pro Football Focus (PFF).
During his time at Tulane, Hurst contributed to the team's success, helping secure three conference titles in 2022-23 and 2025. He has maintained a remarkable record of allowing just one sack throughout his four seasons.
