The Houston Texans are looking to the Dallas Cowboys for support after wide receiver Jayden Higgins suffered a season-ending torn ACL. The Texans are uncertain about how they will compensate for Higgins' absence, but he is reportedly eager to return to the field as soon as possible.
Dallas Cowboys team doctor Dan Cooper will perform surgery on Higgins, as confirmed by KPRC 2’s Aaron Wilson. Cooper previously operated on Texans linebacker E.J. Speed, who also sustained a significant injury during the offseason. Speed is expected to miss most, if not all, of the upcoming regular season.
The loss of Higgins is considered a significant setback for the Texans, particularly for quarterback CJ Stroud and the team's offensive strategy. Sportswriter John McClain described Higgins as the most improved player on the team, emphasizing the challenge the Texans now face in finding a suitable replacement.
While the team may explore options in free agency or through trades, the current roster may need to step up in the interim.
ESPN 97.5’s Jeremy Branham noted that the available wide receivers are not particularly promising, suggesting the Texans might look internally for solutions. The team has some young players like Jared Wayne and Xavier Hutchinson, but their readiness to fill Higgins' role remains uncertain.
