Baylor quarterback DJ Lagway is currently listed as day-to-day due to an ankle injury as the team prepares for their upcoming game against Prairie View A&M on Saturday. Head coach Dave Aranda indicated that Lagway's status will be determined following practice.

In his debut with Baylor, Lagway completed 27 of 54 passes for 333 yards, contributing two touchdowns and one interception in a narrow 17-16 defeat against Auburn. The Bears were unable to convert a two-point conversion that could have secured a victory in the closing moments of the game.

Auburn head coach Alex Golesh praised Lagway's performance despite his injury, describing him as a tough player who demonstrated resilience during the game. Golesh remarked on Lagway's ability to stay in the game after sustaining an injury early on.

Lagway, who previously played for Florida, transferred to Baylor after two seasons with the Gators. He was highly regarded as the No. 3 ranked player in his class and was expected to lead Florida's program following the departure of quarterback Graham Mertz. However, his time at Florida was marked by challenges, including injuries and inconsistent performances, culminating in a disappointing 4-8 season for the Gators.

Florida football icon Tim Tebow expressed support for Lagway, suggesting that a change in environment could help him thrive. Tebow noted that Lagway faced immense pressure at Florida and believes he will perform better at Baylor, where he can play with more joy and confidence.

Further details regarding Lagway's recovery and availability for the game against Prairie View A&M have not yet been provided.
