Baylor University quarterback DJ Lagway is currently considered day-to-day as he recovers from an ankle injury, according to head coach Dave Aranda. The Bears are optimistic that Lagway will be able to participate in the upcoming game against Prairie View A&M on Saturday.
Lagway sustained the injury during the team's narrow 17-16 defeat to Auburn in their season opener. Despite the injury, he played the entire game and managed to lead the Baylor offense effectively, finishing with 27 completions on 54 attempts for 333 yards, two touchdowns, and one interception.
In his debut, Lagway demonstrated resilience by helping the Bears come back from a 17-10 deficit late in the fourth quarter. He made crucial plays, including a 28-yard completion to Gavin Freeman on a fourth-and-10 situation, followed by a 27-yard pass to Jadon Porter that set up a 5-yard touchdown pass to Freeman with just nine seconds remaining in the game.
Aranda noted that the team's assessment of Lagway's condition will continue through the week, stating, "We'll see after today how Tuesday looks and Wednesday and so forth. Right now, DJ's a day-to-day guy." Further updates on Lagway's status are expected as the week progresses.
