The Dallas Cowboys have officially signed Von Miller, a move that has been anticipated for some time. Miller, a native of DeSoto, Texas, confirmed that he has been in discussions with the team since before training camp began.
As he enters his 15th NFL season, Miller aims to enhance his impressive career total of 138.5 sacks while aiding the team's pass protection efforts, particularly for right tackle Terence Steele.
Miller is expected to primarily play as a left outside linebacker, a position he has occupied for most of his career. This creates a competitive environment for other players vying for the same position. Currently, Rashan Gary, who was traded to the Cowboys earlier this year, is the starting left outside linebacker.
First-round rookie Malachi Lawrence has also been training at this position, further solidifying the competition.
On the right side, second-year player Donovan Ezeiruaku is expected to take the lead, with James Houston serving as a key rotational player. This leaves limited opportunities for Sam Williams and Marist Liufau, who are both competing for the same right outside linebacker position. Their chances of making the 53-man roster appear slim, especially with the addition of Miller.
