Dallas Independent School District has released a guide addressing the top five frequently asked questions regarding enrollment for the 2026-2027 school year. The announcement aims to assist families, whether they are new to the district or seeking to transfer to a different campus.

To determine which school a student is assigned to, families must use the district’s School Finder tool at dallasisd.org/enroll. The assigned campus is based on the home address and the student’s current grade level. Parents can enter their address and select the grade to view the designated neighborhood campus.

Required documentation for enrollment includes proof of address, such as a utility bill; the student’s birth certificate; a parent or legal guardian photo ID; and previous school records along with current immunization records if available. Students may enroll in their designated neighborhood school. Those wishing to attend magnet, transformation, or dual language schools must submit a transfer application. Space is limited, and applications are processed on a first-come, first-served basis.

If a specialized campus or Legacy transfer school lacks immediate capacity, students are placed on a waitlist. This applies to applicants from the first or second rounds who did not secure an open seat. If a spot opens, the school contacts the next person in line. For Legacy transfers, most campuses remain open, though some are closed due to building capacity.

The primary application window for the 2027-2028 school year runs from November 1 through January 31. Round 3 applications for the 2026-2027 school year open on July 13. Parents may select up to five schools, with a maximum of two being magnet schools. Notifications typically occur in March.

For in-person, bilingual assistance, the ONE Center operates three locations open from 7:30 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Thursday. The centers are located at the Linus D Wright Administration Building at 9400 N Central Expressway, Frazier House at 4600 Spring Ave., and Kathlyn Joy Gilliam Early College at 1700 E. Camp Wisdom Road. Residents may also call the hotline at 972-925-5560 and provide their home address to be directed to the nearest center.
