The Dallas ISD Board of Trustees convened on June 25, 2026, for the final meeting of the 2025-2026 school year. During this session, the board approved several policy updates, structural changes, and administrative agreements for the upcoming academic year.

Student Code of Conduct and Device Fees

The board approved the Dallas ISD Student Code of Conduct for the 2026-2027 school year. This document outlines student responsibilities, behavioral expectations, and disciplinary procedures for all campuses. A key provision in the updated code addresses confiscated mobile devices. Under the new policy, students may be charged a fee ranging from $5 to $15 to retrieve a confiscated cell phone. The policy mandates that all confiscated devices must be turned in to the principal’s office as soon as practicable.

School Renaming and Bond Oversight

The board unanimously approved the renaming of Cesar Chavez Learning Center to East Dallas Elementary School. This name change will take effect for the 2026-2027 school year. Additionally, the board approved the charter establishing the 2026 Bond Advisory Committee. This committee will provide independent community oversight, transparency, and accountability for the implementation of the voter-approved 2026 Bond Program. Members will monitor schedules and budgets, evaluate community engagement efforts, and provide quarterly updates to the superintendent and board throughout the life of the bond program.

Construction and Academic Programs

The board approved several items supporting the implementation of the district’s bond program. Approved construction projects include work at Adelio Williams Career Institute East, as well as additions and renovations to Kleberg Elementary School and Bishop Arts STEAM Academy. The board also approved agreements and procurement methods to support the planning, design, construction, and management of these bond-funded projects.

Furthermore, the board approved agreements with vendors to provide professional development, instructional materials, and implementation resources for Dallas ISD’s International Baccalaureate programs. The district’s IB program has expanded from nine authorized schools in 2020 to 15 in 2026. Finally, the board appointed Trustee Lance Currie to the Dallas ISD School Safety and Security Committee for a two-year term beginning with the 2026-2027 school year.
