Dallas ISD has released a set of frequently asked questions and important tips to assist parents with student enrollment for the 2026–2027 school year. The district acknowledges that the process can be confusing for new residents or families seeking to transfer to a different school.

To determine which school a student is assigned to, parents must visit dallasisd.org/enroll and select the option to find their school. The assignment is based on the student’s home address and current grade level. Users enter their address and the student’s grade to view the assigned school.

Parents and legal guardians must provide standard documentation to complete enrollment. Required items include proof of residency, such as a utility bill; the student’s birth certificate; a photo ID for the parent or guardian; previous school records; and an updated immunization record, if available. Students are initially enrolled in their assigned neighborhood school. Those wishing to attend a magnet, transformation, or dual-language school must submit a transfer application. These applications are processed on a first-come, first-served basis due to limited space.

If a school has no available space, students who applied during the first or second rounds are placed on a waitlist. If a spot opens, the school contacts the next person on the list. Most neighborhood schools have space, though some are at capacity. If a specific grade is full, applicants are waitlisted and notified if a spot becomes available.

The first round of applications for the 2027–2028 school year opens on November 1 and closes on January 31. The third round for the 2026–2027 school year begins on July 13. Parents may select up to five schools, with a maximum of two being magnet schools. Notifications are typically sent in March.

For in-person assistance, three bilingual enrollment centers are available from 7:30 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Thursday. Locations include the Northeast ONE Center at 9400 N Central Expressway, the Southeast ONE Center at 4600 Spring Ave., and the Southwest ONE Center at 1700 E. Camp Wisdom Road. Residents may also call 972-925-5560 and provide their address to be connected to the nearest center.
