Ararh Cho, a rising junior at the School for the Talented and Gifted, was selected as a FIFA World Cup Flag Bearer, joining students from across the United States to participate in the global sporting event. Cho stated that carrying a flag on such a prominent stage was an opportunity to proudly represent the city of Dallas.
Cho described the selection process as a surprise. After applying alongside classmates at her competitive school, she initially expected a rejection. Upon receiving the notification, she contacted her mother immediately to share the news. She noted that prior to this selection, she had faced rejections from other competitive summer programs but continued to apply for new opportunities.
The experience involved connecting with participants from various states and backgrounds. Cho observed that the group formed a community through shared emotions, noting that many fellow participants felt similar nerves before the event began. She emphasized that getting to know people from different places made the experience meaningful.
