Dallas Independent School District will host a Back to School Kickoff event from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 1 at Ellis Davis Field House. The event allows parents to register for the upcoming school year and receive on-site assistance for students enrolling in pre-K through 12th grade.

Students who register onsite will receive free school supplies and approved backpacks, along with other services, while supplies last. The district notes that availability is limited.

Parents are asked to come prepared with specific documents to complete their child’s enrollment. Required items include a parent or guardian photo ID, proof of address, and an immunization record. New students must also provide a birth certificate. A Social Security card is optional.

Parents of pre-K students must provide additional documentation to determine eligibility. Depending on the situation, this may include proof of income, a Medicaid/SNAP/TANF benefits letter, foster care paperwork, military paperwork, or Star of Texas paperwork.

For more information regarding school supply lists, Dallas ISD’s clear backpack policy, enrollment procedures, and other details, residents can visit the district’s official website link provided in the original announcement.

The event serves as a central point for families to finalize administrative requirements before the start of the academic year. All registration assistance is provided directly by Dallas ISD staff at the designated location.
