Federal authorities are preparing to launch a coordinated effort to address sexual misconduct within North Texas public schools during a press event scheduled for Tuesday afternoon in Dallas.
U.S. Attorney Ryan Raybould is the primary speaker at the gathering, which will also feature FBI Dallas Special Agent In Charge Joseph Rothrock alongside representatives from various federal, state, and local law enforcement agencies. A representative from the Texas Education Agency is expected to attend as well.
The announcement is set to take place at 1 p.m. Central Time on August 18, 2026. The event will be broadcast live via streaming on CBS News Texas, accessible through the CBS News mobile application and Pluto TV.
It remains unclear whether this new initiative is directly linked to any specific ongoing investigations or recent criminal cases. However, the timing follows several high-profile allegations involving educators in the region.
In recent weeks, Paul Campbell, a former elementary school teacher with Plano ISD, was arrested on charges of sexually abusing second-grade students during the 2025-26 academic year. Additionally, Caleb Elliott, a former teacher and coach for Celina ISD, faces multiple federal and state counts related to secret recordings of middle school boys in locker rooms.
