Plano is about 18 miles north of Dallas. The city has announced that multiple public facilities will either shut down or run on modified schedules on July 4 to mark Independence Day. These adjustments apply to libraries, recreation centers, and other municipal sites across the community.

The following locations will remain completely closed on the holiday: the Plano Animal Shelter, the Day Labor Center, the Plano Municipal Center, the Texas Pure Products Regional Composting Site, and the Custer Road Facility. Additionally, the Davis, Haggard, Harrington, Parr, and Schimelpfenig Public Libraries will not be open to the public.

Other facilities will offer limited service during specific windows. The Carpenter Park, Oak Point, and Liberty Recreation Centers will operate from 1 p.m. to 6 p.m. The High Point Tennis Center will open earlier, with hours running from 7:30 a.m. until 6 p.m.

Swimming facilities will also see reduced availability. The Jack Carter Pool and the Plano Aquatic Center will both be open from 1 p.m. to 6 p.m. The Sam Johnson Recreation Center is listed among the closed facilities, with no alternative hours provided.

Residents are advised to check the city’s official website for any last-minute changes or additional information regarding holiday operations. Details about parking, specific program cancellations, or future schedule adjustments were not provided in the initial announcement.
