Dallas Police and Dallas Fire-Rescue units collaborated to rescue a woman who had been trapped in a ravine behind a local high school. The operation took place on the evening of June 28, according to details released by the Dallas Police Department on social media.
The incident began when a young man heard faint cries for help coming from a wooded area near the school. After investigating the source of the sounds, he determined that a young woman had been stuck in the steep ravine for several days. She was trapped by deep mud and sewage.
The young man contacted police, prompting a response from officers and fire-rescue personnel. First responders navigated a quarter-mile of difficult terrain to reach the victim. The rescue occurred during extreme heat, with temperatures reaching 104 degrees.
Emergency teams successfully extricated the woman from the ravine. She was transported to a nearby hospital for medical care. Hospital staff treated her for severe dehydration, prolonged exposure to the sun, and injuries resulting from her extended entrapment.
