Dallas and its surrounding communities are currently at the forefront of national hotel construction activity, marking their second consecutive year holding this position. According to the Lodging Econometrics U.S. Construction Pipeline Trend Report, the region maintains the largest pipeline of new hotel developments in the country.
During the second quarter of 2026, Dallas recorded 183 projects in its development pipeline. The city also leads the nation with 38 hotel projects actively under construction at that time. The data compiled by the report includes neighboring suburban municipalities such as Frisco and Plano within the total count for the Dallas area.
Traci Mayer, executive director of the Hotel Association of North Texas, attributed this growth to a diverse economic base. She noted that the presence of finance, healthcare, technology, and professional services sectors contributes to the resilience of the local hotel market.
Mayer highlighted that the Dallas-Fort Worth area offers affordable land costs and greater accessibility compared to other major U.S. markets. These factors, combined with an influx of new residents and available jobs, create a dynamic environment for developers. The region also supports a wide variety of hotel types, ranging from luxury accommodations to family-friendly options.
