House Democratic leadership announced on Friday that four members of the House will travel to Dallas next week. The visit is scheduled to coincide with the Republican National Committee's first midterm convention, which is set to take place in the Texas city.
The delegation consists of Representatives Robert Garcia from California, Jason Crow from Colorado, Madeleine Dean from Pennsylvania, and Sydney Kamlager-Dove from California. According to the announcement, these lawmakers will work alongside local leaders and the Texas Democratic Party while on the ground in Dallas.
House Democratic Leader Hakeem Jeffries of New York issued a statement criticizing the Republican presence in the city. He stated that while House Republicans in swing districts attempt to distance themselves from policies he described as raising costs for working families, cutting Medicaid to fund tax breaks for wealthy donors, and supporting military action in Iran, the Democratic delegation intends to hold them accountable.
Jeffries also accused what he termed MAGA extremists of socializing with wealthy donors in Dallas while Americans face high prices.
Representative Crow echoed these sentiments on the social platform X. He claimed that Americans are struggling with rising costs while Republicans celebrate a president whose tariffs and wars he said are worsening conditions. Crow stated that the delegation's purpose is to hold the opposing party accountable for these actions.
