Caterpillar Inc. announced on July 2 that it will invest $5 million to support manufacturing workforce development across Texas. The Irving-based company, which is located approximately 9 miles west of Dallas, made the pledge at its engine facility in Seguin, situated outside San Antonio. This facility spans 1.7 million square feet.
The funding is designated for talent development efforts and will be distributed through partnerships with several local organizations. These partners include Texas State Technical College, the Manufacturing Institute, and the Seguin Economic Development Corp. The investment aims to help prepare workers for current roles and future careers in advanced technology and manufacturing.
Christy Pambianchi, Caterpillar’s chief human resources officer, described Texas as a manufacturing powerhouse and a vital hub for innovation. She stated that the company is leveraging these state strengths to equip Texans with skills for today’s jobs and tomorrow’s technical careers.
This $5 million allocation is a component of the $100 million Building the Future Workforce Initiative, which Caterpillar launched in October of the previous year. Indiana was the first state to receive support under this broader program. The company selected Texas as the next focus for this workforce investment.
