The biggest series launch in Paramount+ history is set on a 7,000-acre ranch in South Texas. It was filmed here.
"Dutton Ranch," the sequel to "Yellowstone" that follows Beth Dutton and Rip Wheeler out of Montana and into Texas, shot its entire first season across North Texas between August 2025 and March 2026, using Dallas and a string of small towns as stand-ins for the fictional border-country town of Rio Paloma.
Filming locations included Ferris, Boyd, Cleburne, Grandview, Weatherford, Rio Vista, Mineral Wells and Fort Worth, along with Dallas itself.
Ferris, the Ellis County town about 18 miles southeast of downtown Dallas, carried a significant share of the production. The ranch country audiences see on screen is largely the grassland and mesquite of Parker, Wise and Johnson counties, not the Rio Grande Valley the story describes.
The series premiered May 15, 2026, with two episodes and ran weekly through a nine-episode season, with the finale arriving July 3. All nine episodes are now streaming on Paramount+, where the show drew 12.9 million global viewers in its first week, the biggest original series launch the service has recorded.
The two-episode premiere also pulled 2.9 million viewers on Paramount Network, the largest cable series premiere since 2023.
Kelly Reilly and Cole Hauser return as Beth and Rip, with Finn Little as their ward Carter. The cast also includes Ed Harris, Annette Bening, Jai Courtney, Marc Menchaca, Natalie Alyn Lind, Juan Pablo Raba, Josh Stewart and J.R. Villarreal. Chad Feehan created the series and served as showrunner for the first season.
