Duran delivers four
Four RBIs from Duran carried the Texas Rangers to a 5-4 win over the San Francisco Giants on Wednesday, August 5, 2026, at Globe Life Field in Arlington, Texas. Duran drove in runs in the first, eighth and ninth innings, with his final swing producing the decisive run after San Francisco had tied the game in the top of the ninth.
Texas builds the first lead
Texas took a 1-0 lead in the first inning when Nimmo doubled to right, scoring Pederson and sending Seager to third. Duran followed with a single to right that brought in Seager and moved Nimmo to third, giving the Rangers a 2-0 lead.
MacKenzie Gore kept San Francisco off the board across 6.0 innings, allowing three hits and no earned runs with three walks and four strikeouts.
Giants answer, Rangers respond
San Francisco tied the score in the seventh inning on the game’s only home run. Basabe homered to left, a 377-foot shot that scored Gilbert and made it 2-2.
Texas moved back in front in the eighth. Duran doubled to right, scoring Langford and Seager while Nimmo advanced to third, putting the Rangers ahead 4-2.
The Giants pulled even again in the ninth. Eldridge singled to right, scoring Gilbert and McCray for a 4-4 tie. In the bottom of the ninth, Texas answered. Duran hit a ground-rule double, scoring Burger and moving Seager to third for the 5-4 final.
Pitching and records
For San Francisco, Blade Tidwell worked 5.0 innings and allowed six hits, two earned runs and one walk with three strikeouts. Jason Foley pitched 1.0 inning with no hits, no earned runs and no walks. JT Brubaker went 1.0 inning, allowing no hits, one earned run and one walk.
Reiver Sanmartin allowed three hits, one earned run and one walk in 0.2 innings. Adrian Houser recorded 0.1 innings with no hits, no earned runs and no walks. Dylan Smith took the loss, falling to 0-4 after allowing two hits, one earned run and one walk in 0.2 innings.
Robby Ahlstrom pitched 1.0 inning with no hits, no earned runs and two strikeouts for Texas. Peyton Gray worked 0.1 innings with no hits, no earned runs and one strikeout. Jacob Latz earned the win, improving to 3-1, after 1.0 inning with two hits, one earned run, one walk and one strikeout.
