Kayshon Boutte, recently traded from the New England Patriots to the Houston Texans, addressed the media for the first time since the trade. During a press conference, he shared insights about his transition and his reasons for leaving New England after three seasons.
Boutte, who had sought a trade during the offseason, explained that the arrival of new talent in the Patriots' wide receiver lineup prompted his decision. He noted, "They did pay two guys to come in and do that job. Sadly, it is the way it is.
Being that it's a contract year for me, I sought a bigger role." The players he referred to are Romeo Doubs, who signed a four-year, $68 million contract, and A.J. Brown, acquired via trade from Philadelphia.
The changes in the Patriots' roster significantly impacted Boutte's position. Despite having a productive 2024 season with 42 receptions for 719 yards and seven touchdowns, he found himself as the fourth wide receiver during training camp, behind Doubs, Brown, and DeMario Douglas.
Head coach Mike Vrabel indicated that Boutte might have been inactive for game days this season, a statement Boutte chose not to take personally.
