The Dallas Cowboys encountered another scuffle during practice on Thursday, just two days after both the Cowboys and New Orleans Saints were fined for multiple fights during a joint practice. The NFL penalized both teams $500,000 each due to the aggressive nature of the session, which reportedly included over ten fights.
The latest altercation involved tight end Jake Ferguson and linebacker DeMarvion Overshown. According to Jon Machota of The Athletic, Ferguson reacted negatively to a tackle, leading him to throw the ball at Overshown, which sparked a brief confrontation. Fortunately, the situation was quickly de-escalated, and it did not escalate further.
This incident follows a notably heated joint practice on Tuesday, where various forms of physical confrontations occurred, including pushing, shoving, and even punches. One player, edge rusher Donovan Ezeiruaku, was ejected for throwing a punch, marking his second ejection for similar behavior during the training camp.
Head coach Brian Schottenheimer expressed his disappointment regarding the fights, emphasizing the importance of maintaining focus on practice rather than engaging in altercations. He noted that while he appreciated the team's passion, the disruptions hindered their ability to effectively prepare.
