During the opening set of the Texas volleyball team's match against TCU in the Players Era Showcase, outside hitter Abby Vander Wal exited the game due to a knee injury. The incident occurred during a scramble on the left side of the court, leading to Vander Wal falling and remaining down for the remainder of the point.

Vander Wal was seen clutching her knee and required assistance from the training staff to leave the court, as she was unable to put weight on her leg. She did not return to the match after the injury.

Her absence is significant for the Longhorns, as she had contributed two kills in the match and her topspin serve had helped initiate scoring runs earlier in the set. Texas ultimately swept TCU, but Vander Wal's status remains uncertain as this is a developing story.
