Xavier Landum, the Dallas-based rapper performing under the stage name BigXThaPlug, pleaded guilty this week to a weapon charge stemming from an incident in August 2025. As part of the resolution, Landum was sentenced to a six-month deferred adjudication for unlawfully carrying a firearm.

Court records indicate he also agreed to voluntarily forfeit his rights to the specific weapon involved, which was identified as a Glock.

The original arrest occurred during a traffic stop on South Great Trinity Forest Way. Dallas Police stated that the pickup truck Landum was driving lacked a front license plate. During the interaction, officers asked if he possessed a firearm.

According to the department, Landum confirmed he had one and directed officers to its location. Police noted that a criminal database flagged Landum as connected to a gang in Arlington, a status that legally prohibited him from possessing a gun. Officers also reported finding a small amount of marijuana inside the vehicle.

The legal proceedings from that period had immediate consequences for Landum's public schedule. The arrest prevented him from attending an album release party at a Deep Ellum nightclub. A second release event planned at a North Texas Wingstop location was also canceled as a result.

Landum currently faces additional charges in Allen. Last week, the Allen Police Department charged him with driving while intoxicated, possession of marijuana, and illegal possession of a firearm. These new allegations come after his guilty plea in the earlier Dallas case.

Landum was born in Dallas and has resided in North Texas. His musical catalog includes tracks such as "Texas" and "Mmhmm." He has a prior history with law enforcement, having been arrested on drug and weapons charges in 2022.
