Motorists in Richardson can now use all lanes on Main Street during peak travel times, the city announced in a recent news release. The reopening follows the conclusion of major construction efforts along the corridor.
The reconstruction work, which started in February of last year, focused on the stretch of Main Street between Greenville Avenue and North Walton Street. The initiative carried a price tag of $6.5 million and aimed to modernize the area through several key improvements.
According to the city, the project scope encompassed paving upgrades, updates to water and sewer lines, the installation of new landscaping, and the addition of modern streetlights. These changes were designed to enhance both the functionality and aesthetic appeal of the thoroughfare.
City officials stated that crews have finished the necessary striping work on the road surface. Workers are currently in the final stages of completing sidewalk repairs, planting new vegetation, and addressing other remaining infrastructure tasks.
