391 feet carried the decisive swing, as Clement homered to left in the 10th inning with Urías aboard, giving the Toronto Blue Jays a 5-3 lead on Wednesday, August 5, 2026. Toronto held on for a 5-4 win over the Houston Astros at Daikin Park, where attendance was 27,751.

The homer was Clement’s key scoring blow after Toronto had erased a three-run deficit. It also was the third home run of the game, following Altuve’s 401-foot shot for Houston and Sánchez’s 398-foot drive for Toronto.

Houston takes control in the third

Houston scored all of its early runs in the bottom of the third. Altuve opened the scoring with a homer to left, putting the Astros ahead 1-0. Walker then doubled to left, scoring Varsho for a 2-0 lead, and Wade Jr. singled to center to bring in Walker and make it 3-0.

Jameson Taillon worked 4.0 innings for Toronto, allowing six hits and three earned runs with two walks and four strikeouts. Hunter Brown went 6.0 innings for Houston, giving up three hits and three earned runs with two walks and eight strikeouts.

Toronto answers, then holds on

Toronto tied the game in the top of the sixth. Okamoto singled to center to score Straw, cutting the deficit to 3-1. Sánchez followed with a two-run homer to right, scoring Okamoto and pulling the Blue Jays even at 3-3.

After Clement’s two-run homer in the top of the 10th, Houston answered in the bottom half. Alvarez singled to right to score Peña, trimming Toronto’s lead to 5-4, but Alvarez was out stretching at second. Houston challenged the call, and it was upheld.

Spencer Miles pitched 2.0 innings for Toronto, allowing two hits, no earned runs and no walks with two strikeouts. Mason Fluharty pitched 1.0 inning with no hits, no earned runs, no walks and two strikeouts. Tyler Rogers allowed one hit in 1.0 inning.

Louis Varland recorded the win, moving to 4-4, after 1.0 inning with no hits, no earned runs, no walks and one strikeout. Chase Lee earned his first save after 1.0 inning with one hit, no earned runs, no walks and no strikeouts.

For Houston, Steven Okert, Bryan Abreu and Josh Hader each pitched 1.0 inning with no hits and no earned runs. Bennett Sousa took the loss, falling to 0-1, after 1.0 inning with two hits, one earned run, no walks and one strikeout.

Toronto improved to 54-61. Houston fell to 59-57.
