3 runs came home on Trammell’s homer to right, and the Houston Astros beat the Toronto Blue Jays 7-2 on Wednesday, August 5, 2026, at Daikin Park. The home run was the game’s only one, traveling 388 feet in a fifth inning that turned a tie game into a four-run Houston lead.
Altuve also had run-scoring singles in the fifth and seventh. Hayden Wesneski earned the win, allowing 4 hits and 2 earned runs with 2 walks and 4 strikeouts over 6.0 innings.
Astros build, Blue Jays answer
Houston opened the scoring in the bottom of the fourth. Diaz singled to left, scoring Altuve and moving Trammell to second for a 1-0 lead. Smith followed with a single to left, and Trammell scored on a throwing error by left fielder Sánchez as Smith reached second and Diaz advanced to third.
Toronto tied it in the top of the fifth. Straw tripled to center to score Giménez, cutting the margin to 2-1. Straw then scored on a Wesneski wild pitch, bringing the Blue Jays even at 2.
Fifth inning breaks open
The Astros answered in the bottom of the fifth. Altuve reached on an infield single to shortstop, scoring Alvarez and moving Walker to second for a 3-2 lead.
Trammell followed with the decisive blow, homering to right with Walker and Altuve aboard. That three-run shot pushed Houston ahead 6-2. The Astros added their final run in the seventh, when Altuve singled to center to score Walker.
