Back to School: When Dallas Students Return in 2026 and the Key Dates to Know

Summer is winding down, and classes are about to resume for students across Dallas. Here is when the new school year begins and the key dates families will want to mark, based on each district's official 2026-27 calendar.

Most of Dallas is served by Dallas ISD, where students return Tuesday, August 11, 2026. The year runs through May 26, 2027.

Parts of Dallas are also served by other districts, including Richardson ISD, Carrollton-Farmers Branch ISD, Highland Park ISD and Duncanville ISD. Families near a boundary should confirm their child's district by address.

Dallas ISD is hosting a free Back-to-School Kickoff on Saturday, August 1 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Ellis Davis Field House, with school supplies, backpacks and on-site registration.
