Quarterback DJ Lagway has transferred from the University of Florida to Baylor University following a difficult season with the Gators. Lagway, who was a highly touted recruit ranked No. 3 in his class, initially stepped into a starting role after Graham Mertz suffered a season-ending injury.

He led Florida to a 5-1 record in the final six games of the previous season, including notable wins against ranked teams.

Despite high expectations for the following season, Lagway faced challenges, including injuries and performance issues. He struggled significantly in a loss to South Florida, marking Florida's first defeat to the Bulls, and later threw five interceptions in a loss to LSU.

Over the course of the season, Lagway played in all 12 games, amassing 2,264 passing yards, 16 touchdowns, and 14 interceptions, contributing to a disappointing 4-8 finish for the Gators.

After the season, Lagway entered the Transfer Portal, seeking a fresh start, which he found at Baylor under head coach Dave Aranda. Tim Tebow, a Florida football legend, expressed support for Lagway's decision, stating that he needed a new environment to thrive.

On 'The Paul Finebaum Show', Tebow noted the pressures Lagway faced at Florida and emphasized that a change in scenery could allow him to perform better.

Lagway is set to debut for Baylor this Saturday against Auburn, a crucial game for both him and Aranda as they aim to turn around the program after a disappointing 5-7 season. A victory against an SEC opponent could significantly boost the perception of Lagway and the Bears as they prepare for upcoming games, including a matchup against Colorado later this month.

The game against Auburn will take place at Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta, kicking off at 3:30 PM (ET) on ABC.
