A closed portion of White Rock Lake Trail near Garland Road is scheduled to reopen to the public by Friday, August 7, 2026, after Dallas Water Utilities completed construction work in the area.
The work involved grouting an abandoned 36-inch diameter pipeline adjacent to Garland Road and the White Rock Lake Trail between E. Lawther Drive and San Rafael Drive. The section set to reopen includes the closed portion of White Rock Lake Trail along Garland Road and E. Lawther between Garland Road and Winfrey Point.
Earlier this year, a sinkhole was observed next to the trail over the abandoned wastewater pipeline and was immediately backfilled. The grouting was described as a long-term measure intended to address the potential for future sinkholes.
