Two LEGO builders have completed a detailed miniature replica of the University of Texas at Dallas campus, a project designed to support student opportunities at the Naveen Jindal School of Management. The model, titled "UTD in Brick," will be officially unveiled on July 30 at the Center for Retail Innovation and Strategy Excellence (RISE).
The construction was carried out by Kurt Zimmerle and Roldan Grace over a period of two and a half weeks. During the month of July, faculty and staff at the university observed the assembly process as the builders constructed the buildings, walkways, and other campus landmarks piece by piece.
The initiative was developed by the RISE Center to provide students with practical experience in retail planning, merchandising, and public engagement. The project is intended to function as more than a static art installation, serving instead as a tool to generate funds for the school. Proceeds from the exhibit will help finance student travel, academic competitions, and scholarships.
Following its debut at the university, the display will travel to Galleria Dallas. The exhibit will be available to the public during the holiday season, allowing shoppers to view the miniature version of the campus. The university has grown significantly over the past five decades, becoming one of the leading institutions in North Texas.
