Three players from the Dallas area have been named starters for the upcoming WNBA All-Star Game, highlighting a strong representation from the region. Olivia Miles, a rookie point guard for the Minnesota Lynx, is the only first-year player among the ten starters.
She has had a standout season, leading the Lynx to the league's best record of 15-4 while averaging 18.7 points, 4.8 rebounds, and 5.7 assists per game, despite the absence of star player Napheesa Collier due to injury.
Joining Miles are Dallas Wings players Paige Bueckers and Jessica Shepard. Bueckers, who was named Rookie of the Year last season, has continued to excel in her sophomore year, averaging 19.9 points, 3.8 rebounds, and 5.9 assists, contributing to the Wings' 11-8 record. This marks her second consecutive selection as a starter in the All-Star Game.
Shepard, who has been a key offseason acquisition for the Wings, is also having a career year with averages of 14.3 points, 11.5 rebounds, and 5.4 assists.
The selection process for the All-Star starters involved votes from fans, players, and media, with fans accounting for half of the total votes. Miles ranked fifth among fans, first with the media, and third with players, while Bueckers was the top vote-getter among both fans and players, and second with the media.
