Hector Guerrero, a 28-year-old Dallas resident, has built a significant online presence by sharing local news and community stories through his social media channels. His interest in video production began at age 12 when his parents gifted him a basic camera phone, sparking a creative outlet that allowed him and his friends to produce sketches and parodies during his youth in Oak Cliff.
Guerrero later founded Tiger Teeth Creative to assist other creators with production needs, but he returned to making personal content last June. He now maintains nearly 50,000 followers on TikTok and almost 45,000 on Instagram, focusing on Dallas-centric topics such as local murals and news events. While he acknowledges the influence of his work, he distinguishes his role from traditional journalism, describing his approach as more akin to gossiping in Spanish.
Although his content has generated substantial engagement, Guerrero notes that income from platform payouts has decreased significantly in recent months. He balances his content creation with two other jobs, warning aspiring creators about the demanding nature of managing production, administration, and editing without a team. Despite these challenges, he remains committed to the field, believing social media will continue to compete with traditional publishers for audience attention.
